Two engine houses and a loading point are all the remains of the ancient pit 'St. Nicolas' of the 'Charbonnages de l'Espérance et Bonne-Fortune'. The place, where once two tall headframes and a huge dressing plant stood, is overgrown with bushes and trees. Even the few people walking their dogs do not disturb the pieceful silence of the area. But the idyll will soon be part of the past. A big signpost already announces, that private homes are going to be built on the site. What will remain?
